Our Story

Five Souls.
One Stillness.

CINQ is French for "five." Five members of one family — Keiko, Tetsuya, Coco, KABA, and Chip — who left the city to live beside a river that changes everything.

NAGI is the Japanese word for the profound stillness that arrives after a storm. No wind. No waves. The moment when your mind finally stops running.

We found that stillness in Wara — a village in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture, three hours from Osaka, where the river runs clear enough to see the bottom three meters down.

We built CINQ NAGI to share what we found.

The Place

Wara, Gujo, Gifu.
Where Japan runs deep.

Wara is a village of 800 people in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture. It has no convenience store. No tourist shops. One river — the Wara — that runs cold and clear from the mountains year-round.

This is not the Japan you've seen before.

  • From Nagoya Station → Gujo Hachiman → Wara: approx. 2 hours
  • From Osaka → Gujo Hachiman → Wara: approx. 3 hours
  • From Tokyo (Shinkansen to Nagoya, then above): approx. 3.5 hours
  • Rental car recommended — scenic drive along the Nagara River
